14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets New Record With SMAT Century

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets New Record

India’s young talent Vaibhav Suryawanshi has achieved a record-breaking feat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Today (Tuesday), the 14-year-old left-hander became the youngest ever to score a century in the tournament. He is now the youngest player in the tournament’s history to reach three figures.

Bihar, batting first, put up 176 for 3 in their 20 overs, with Vaibhav carrying his bat for a stunning 108 not out off just 61 balls. His innings, decorated with 7 fours and 7 towering sixes, was the heartbeat of the Bihar total. He completed his hundred in the 20th over, sending the first delivery from Arshin Kulkarni to the boundary to reach the milestone in 58 balls.

This knock couldn’t have come at a better time in Vaibhav’s young domestic career. He was struggling for runs after scores of 14, 13, and 5, and this innings at Eden Gardens completely changed the story. It reminded everyone of the insane talent he showed when he smashed that 42-ball 144 against UAE in the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha.

On Tuesday, he started with patience, shifted gears later, and paced his innings like someone way beyond his age. He’s just 14 years and 250 days old, but he batted like a pro.

While Vaibhav owned the headlines, another standout moment came from Ahmedabad. Devdutt Padikkal smashed a brilliant century for Karnataka against Tamil Nadu. Opening with Mayank Agarwal, he flew to a fifty in just 26 balls and then brought up his hundred in only 45. He stayed unbeaten on 102, cracking 10 fours and six sixes, and powered Karnataka to a massive 245 for 3 in 20 overs.

But the moment of the day—and maybe even the whole tournament—belonged to Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Scoring a century at just 14 didn’t just break records, it announced the arrival of a prodigy who’s doing things most players don’t even dream of at this age.
