Sarfaraz Khan Breaks Silence After IPL Snub Ends at 2026 Auction

Sarfaraz Breaks Silence

Sarfaraz Khan smashed a blistering 73 off just 22 balls in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, only hours before the auction.

India batter Sarfaraz Khan shared a heartwarming reaction after being picked by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the IPL 2026 Mini-Auction on Tuesday. The five-time champions signed him at his base price of ₹75 lakh, impressed by his red-hot form in domestic cricket.

Just hours before the auction, Sarfaraz had smashed a blistering 73 off 22 balls in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. After going unsold in the initial rounds, he eventually found a bidder in CSK, who made him their sixth pick of the auction.

Taking to Instagram, Sarfaraz thanked CSK for giving his career a “new life.”

“Thank you so much, CSK, for giving me a new life,” Sarfaraz captioned a video on his Instagram story.

Sarfaraz last featured in the IPL for Delhi Capitals in 2023, playing a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he has been in fine form, scoring 256 runs from six innings at an impressive average of 64.00 and a strike rate of 182.85.

Meanwhile, uncapped players Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer created history at the IPL 2026 mini-auction, with CSK snapping up both for Rs 14.20 crore each.

Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer are now the joint most expensive uncapped players in the history of the tournament. The five-time champions also snapped up West Indies all-rounder Akeal Hosein at his base price of Rs 2 crore.

CSK further strengthened their squad by adding Sarfaraz Khan, Matt Henry, and Rahul Chahar. Earlier, they made the most high-profile move of the mini-auction by trading in wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson for Rs 18 crore.
