Bangladesh Bans IPL Completely After Mustafizur Rahman Gets Dropped by KKR

Bangladesh Banned IPL

The Bangladesh government just banned the IPL. All of it. No broadcasts, no promotions, nothing.

The reason? Kolkata Knight Riders dropped fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad ahead of IPL 2026. And Bangladesh isn’t happy about it.

An official order confirmed that all IPL-related content has been suspended with immediate effect. The ban stays until further notice and was approved “in the interest of the public.”

Bangladeshi officials believe the decision to drop Mustafizur came from pressure by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). And they say there’s no good reason for it.

“There is no logical reason for this decision of the Indian Cricket Board. It has distressed, shocked, and angered the people of Bangladesh,” the government order stated. So they acted. Fast.

“All games and events of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will not be promoted or broadcast until further orders,” the statement added.

This isn’t just a cricket issue anymore. It’s become a matter of national pride. Mustafizur, nicknamed “The Fizz,” is a fan favorite back home and has been a standout performer in the IPL for years. Seeing him dropped like this didn’t sit well with anyone in Bangladesh.

For now, the IPL is completely blocked across the country. When will the ban lift? No one knows. But until then, cricket fans in Bangladesh won’t be seeing any IPL action.
